Deborah Song
Deborah Song is a violinist from New York.
It was her discovery of the late Beethoven string quartets as a teen that began her love for music, particularly in chamber music. This passion fueled much of her studies and performances throughout her years in school. In 2011, she was a recipient of the John Celentano Award for Excellence in Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music. In 2017, she was awarded Best Chamber Music for her performance of Schoenberg's Verklarte Nacht at Les Ecoles d’Art Américaines in Fontainebleau. She continues to perform chamber music with Solisti Ensemble, Caroga Lake Music Festival, MidAtlantic Opera, New Asia Chamber Music Society, Concerts on the Slope and the Flatirons Chamber Music Festival.
With a M.M from The Juilliard School and a B.A. in Psychology and B.M./Performer’s Certificate in Violin from the University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music, Deborah is thankful for her teachers and mentors, including Stephen Clapp, Laurie Smukler, Mikhail Kopelman, David Cerone, Shirley Givens, Byung-Kook Kwak and Olga Popova.
Deborah currently lives in New York, where she teaches a private violin studio in Scarsdale, NY and was on faculty with the Elizabeth Faidley Studio.
